A new report by the UK-based research group InfluenceMap reveals that major oil companies put out sophisticated climate messaging that suggests a willingness to change while keeping their investments solidly focused on fossil fuels. The report says that ExxonMobile, Shell, Chevron, BP and Total spent a billion dollars on public relations and lobbying in the three years since the Paris Agreement.
